The JK Place Roma is set on the beautifully named via Monte d’Oro (the mountain of gold) and is in the heart of Rome, close to the Spanish Steps, Palazzo Borghese, the river Fiume and more museums and churches you can shake a large stick at. The super-stylish interior has won the hotel many plaudits across the style press. The comfortable rooms are light and (relatively) spacious looking out over the surrounding ancient buildings and are decorated with quirky contemporary finishes (as well as all necessary mod-cons, although we’re not sure that large flat-screen TVs are quite what you should be concentrating on in Rome), the ensuite marble bathrooms are bright and the approaching corridors wide and light, all accessed by an elegant, townhouse staircase. The public spaces at the JK Place Roma sit somewhere between colonial chic and high-end design – wooden slatted shutters break the outside world from the contemporary furniture, fine collection of reading material and elegantly colourful designs. The JK Cafe serves excellent bistro-style food and the bar knocks up some of the best cocktails in the area. JK Place Roma is perfect for that spoil-yourself-rotten weekend break where sight-seeing and style can finally go hand-in-hand.
