Walzwerk
Walzwerk is a funky cache of über-hipdom that is one of few authentic East German (if any!) restaurants in San Francisco, executed with no-frills panache. Walzwerk accurately re-creates a saucy little dive typical of an East German village, complete with saucy waitresses, saucy cooks, saucy visitors crowding the tables and carrying on in a host of Euro languages, and saucy dishes that will leave you well fuelled and ready to hit the town. Beyond the fun ambiance and hip crowd, the food in Walzwerk makes a nice change. The breast of chicken stuffed with apples and bacon with sun-dried cherry sauce is a big favourite. You are mere blocks away from the Mission hot spots and not far from the 11th Street nightlife corridor. The East Germans really have arrived!
