Diavolezza

Both Lagalb and Diavolezza are quieter runs in St. Moritz, great spots to visit in high season to avoid the crowds. Diavolezza has plenty of off piste variants and terrain for the free-riders. The Diavolezza ski area offers a rather easy but picturesque ungroomed route over the Diavolezza-Morteratsch Glacier. While this attracts the tourists, hardly anybody skis the much more challenging off-piste route down the Val Arias on the other side of the cable car. They miss it at their loss as it is a fantastic run! It is a marked itinerary run and so a guide is not essential, but if you have one then he or she will find some more interesting routes and better snow. The views around here are spectacular. This area also offers night skiing on full moons which is quite an experience – if you have never skied or snowboarded under the light of the moon then you really ought to give it a go. The area is usually the first to open and often starts in mid-October. At Diavolezza there was once a marked itinerary, and then even a 10km version of the ‘Vallee Blanche’, returning on the world famous Bernina Express. Sadly it is no longer in existence as a ski run.
