There are more sports in St. Moritz than skiing. The British upper-class inaugurated winter tourism here in the second half of the 19th century, and along with their stiff upper lips they brought a variety of games and sports to the region. The frozen Lake of St. Moritz is the perfect place to play out those activities, including polo, horseracing, golf and cricket. Traditionally summer sports are given a winter twist, such as skijöring – a form of horseracing where skiers are pulled along by horses.
