Absolut Ice Bar
By now, who hasn’t heard of Sweden’s Ice Hotel? Well, when this bar opened it was the world’s first ice bar (several more have since been launched). Situated in the lobby of the Nordic Sea (see Hotels), the Ice Bar is the hotel’s star attraction and, unsurprisingly, draws in quite a few tourists. While drinking in a room where the temperature is minus 5º Celsius might not be everyone’s idea of fun, it makes a change from the average watering-hole. Fur-lined coats and warm boots are provided for customers before they venture in to sample the only alcohol available – Absolut vodka served in glasses made from ice. The ice is imported from the north of Sweden and comes from the same source as that of the Ice Hotel. You need a ticket to get in and because it is so popular you should book ahead. Tickets include one drink, and give you 45 minutes of frosty drinking time.
