Very new and still seeking widespread approval, Hotellet should gain deserved support from the regulars frequenting the many bars and restaurants in the area. It’s up against some tough competition, including Aubergine and Elverket, but with a well- marketed restaurant, great location and plenty of space for big parties, the chic ambience should hold its own.

This is especially true with regard to the large back garden where one of the two Hotellet bars serves up a great daiquiri for you to sip while you recline on a retro chaise longue. Hotellet’s space is a real advantage, particularly during colder periods when the long bar in its rusty orange colours and warm wooden furnishings comes into its own.

There are plans to open a club beneath the bar where the room is equally expansive and this, given the present popularity of Hotellet’s bars on a Friday night, should keep the punters in rather than drifting off to Kharma or Sture Compagniet (see Clubs section). It needs this extra dimension, as novelty and excellent cocktails have attracted a chic crowd so far, but the reputation of Brasserie Godot next door is one that Hotellet might struggle to better.
