Hg2 : The Hedonist

You expect a degree of drama at Inferno. After all, this is the building that August Strindberg called home towards the end of his life. A bust of the writer stares down from a shelf just above the Scotch whiskies. Many of the cocktails take their name from his works: the Miss Julie, for instance, which is made with Champagne, strawberries and vanilla. The bar takes its named from a book Strindberg wrote following his so-called Inferno period, but the experience of visiting is far from infernal. In fact, it’s heavenly. This is one of the best places in the city. The long, narrow bar is simply furnished in black and white but with blood red lighting that lends an air of the theatrical. Other bars may be bigger or louder or more fashionable, but Inferno’s success is built on excellent food and drink provided by friendly staff in a cosy, compact space that quickly foster a great atmosphere.
