For more than a decade Soap Bar has been a bubbly city centre nightspot. Its popularity is helped by its proximity to Dramaten, the city’s principle theatre, so from 10.30pm you can expect a post-theatre crowd to descend and discuss the evening’s performance. Not that it’s a serious theatrical bar – the crowd tends to be extremely fashionable, extremely cheerful,  mostly in their 20s and 30s, and very into the music being played.

rnThe relatively small interior quickly fills up and the crowd spills out onto Nybrogatan, appreciative of the bar’s outdoor heat lamps on colder nights. In a city where the weekends tend to be frenetic and weekdays calm, it’s nice to find a place that’s often hopping during the midweek, especially one with good food and friendly staff. It’s also open to 3am every night of the week.
