Compared with many of the establishments listed on these pages, ‘Martin’s Greens’ is distinctly plain. It’s a tiny place that fills up quickly every day, mostly with local office workers. If you do find a space you’ll doubtless have to share your table with other diners. Only open for lunch, the menu is restricted to two choices each day.
Customers queue at a counter to collect their meal, pausing to slice themselves some of the excellent home-baked bread. It’s not at all stylish, so why do we include it? Because it’s one of the few vegetarian restaurants in the city. And it’s just downright nice. Martin is friendly, the food is robust and hearty, and portions are large, which explains its popularity even among the carnivorous diners of Stockholm.
