Once upon a time Laroy would have been number one on most people’s list as THE place to be on a Friday or Saturday, but now the section of Stockholm’s beautiful people who champion it has dwindled somewhat. Although the levels of general aesthetic magnificence, both in terms of place and party people, has not declined in the least, the nearby competition, Berns and Café Opera, has ensured that merely a couple of drinks in Laroy will suffice before moving on.
Nubile young things are the order of the day here and this may be one reason for Laroy’s waning success. You can’t move, literally, for the vast quantities of 19-year-olds sporting ‘J’adore Dior’ T-shirts, and if you’re over the age of 23 (21 is the official age of entry), expect to feel past the peak of your youthful prime.
Glitz from the luxuriant furnishings on two floors, and a packed dance-floor of designer-clad creatures gyrating to typical chart toppers makes for heaven or hell, depending entirely on who you are and what you expect from a top night out.
