Hg2 : The Hedonist

Don’t expect red-chequered tablecloths and candles in bottles at this neighbourhood Italian. Not when the neighbourhood in question is Östermalm, which is home to the upper echelons of Stockholm society. When Divino opened it was the first fine-dining Italian in town, and claims to be the city’s largest purchaser of truffles. The combination of decadent Tuscan food, liberal use of luxury ingredients, a huge wine list featuring dozens of champagnes, and an elegant dining room decorated with cream-and-gold walls and crystal lighting has proved to be a winning combination.

Prices are steep, certainly, but you’ll feel you had value for money and the service is great. However, if you’d prefer to experience the chef’s expertise at lower prices and don’t mind sitting in less opulent surroundings, opt for the Divino Deli next door. It’s particularly good for lunch on a summer’s day when you can sit outside.
