Gerda’s
Gerda’s sits next to Lisa Elmqvist (also in the Restaurants section) in Saluhallen (the covered market) and the two work together, mopping up each other’s overflow. They are very similar and equally popular, although perhaps because of the properly laid tables and napkin rings, Gerda’s could be considered a tad more up-market.
This small difference apart, the prices are almost identical, although here you will have the table to yourself. There isn’t a bar at Gerda’s, so you’ll have to pop in for lunch. The open kitchen is easily observed from wherever you sit, so you can keep an eye on everything from the fish-gutting to final preparation of your food.
The real point, however, is to go to Saluhallen, whet your appetite by looking around, and sit down to confirm that the food really is as good as it looks in the stalls surrounding you.
