Hg2 : The Hedonist

A Hedonist’s guide to…

Stockholm

Lady Hamilton
A perfect location for people who prefer their experience of Scandinavia to be a little more old-fashioned. This Gamla Stan hotel is packed with antiques and even has antique shops for neighbours. Definitely not for fans of minimalism.
Rica Gamla Stan
Something of a hidden gem, the Rica Hotel Gamla Stan benefits from a location in the heart of the Old Town, but with an interior decor that is not too quaint.
J Sealodge Gashaga
This sibling property to the Hotel J at Nacka Strand can be reached by car, ferry, or a charming narrow-gauge railway that leads almost to its door. Perfect for people who want to be out of town and on the edge of the archipelago.
J Nacka Strand
A short ferry ride from the city centre, the Hotel J is named after a class of sailing boat and the interior feels very yacht-like, with lots of teak and blue-and-white fabrics.
Villa Källhagen
It's only minutes from the centre by cab, but you feel like you are in the countryside at this pleasant and modern hotel. Due to its conference facilities and location it's popular with business travelers.
Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden
This hotel comes into its own in the summer, when the long sunny days show the stylish interior in its best light and its seaside location can be fully appreciated. That said, it's pretty nice to be able to curl up here in the winter too.
The Victory
A curious mix of ancient and modern, the Victory is the smartest of a trio of historic hotels in the Old Town. The restaurant, Lejontornet, is ranked as one of the best in Stockholm.
Stureplan
Located in archly cool Ostermalm, this debutante hotel is stylishly decorated, with a wonderful restaurant, bar and the most exclusive spa in the city.
Esplanade
Real time-warp of a traditional seaside hotel from the early twentieth century with impeccable standards. Expect fine linen, the sound of sea gulls, classic breakfast spreads and homely teas after a blustery walk by the water.
Diplomat
Located on the most expensive stretch of real estate in Stockholm, the Diplomat a successful blend of classic Swedish architecture and a more fashionable interior. Very popular for weekend brunch or afternoon tea.
