Sticky is one of the most covert bars in Sydney. To gain entry you have to walk down a deserted laneway, press a door buzzer and cross your fingers. Once upstairs, the interiors are dark and moody, with candelabra chandeliers, heavy red curtains and plush armchairs where it’s all too easy to spend the entire night quaffing a cracking red from Sticky’s impressive wine list. The bartenders are an impressive bunch, too, ready and willing to mix up thoughtful cocktails with panache – choose from their suggestions chalked up on the blackboard behind the bar. The beauty of Sticky is that even though it’s been around for a year or so, it continues to fly well under the radar of the average bargoer – meaning it’s never too busy and never filled with undesirables.
