This is one of the most friendly and atmospheric pubs in Sydney. As locals would say, you’re always welcome at ‘The Welly’. This classic Inner West pub is a beloved watering hole, with a leafy heated courtyard with chunky benches and ferns scattered about, a traditional wood-panelled bar and an excellent pub menu. Don’t be fooled by the casualness, though – the Welly’s food is more contemporary bistro fare than pub grub, with soufflés, lamb, spatchcock and extremely well-priced steak. There’s a range of local and imported beer, ale and cider on tap to suit all tastes, including Bulmers, Kilkenny and Old Speckled Hen, and entertainment in the form of classic rock bands and trivia nights. This is a great pub to head to if you’re in the mood for casual boozing, with genuinely friendly pub service, free of pomp and ceremony.
