Zeta
The interiors conjure up a Moroccan harem, with alluring North Africa-inspired ottomans and lounges, exotic fabrics and sexy hostesses that seem to glide rather than walk – not too shabby a place to go drinking in Sydney. But if you’re not a fan of Morocco, or Sydney for that matter then let Zeta bartenders whisk you away to a Havana street bar, or perhaps a Hawaiian beach. Always a forerunner in the cocktail game, Zeta’s molecular mixologists have knack of revamping the humble cocktail into a so-called ‘sensory experience’. The Havana experience, for example, will have you sitting at the bar blindfolded, sipping a mojito and inhaling a cigar-scented mist while listening to salsa through an ipod. Want your mojito slightly more fantastico? Then go for the deconstructed version, cryogenically frozen with LN2 and served as a sorbet in a mini waffle cone. Or chomp on a deconstructed martini jelly, finished with a puff of vermouth ‘air’. Regular drinkers need not worry, though, Zeta doesn’t only serve wizz-bang concoctions and bartenders are happy to oblige even if you just want a plain old G&T instead of popcorn-infused rum. Though it sounds kind of boring now, doesn’t it?
