Bondi FM is a super-casual beachside hangout, one of the few cafés in Syndey with a house party-esque vibe, not to mention an astro turf picnic area, old benches, worn sofas and graffiti-stencil murals on the walls. It attracts an equally laid-back clientele who lie in the sun on the grass nattering to mates, drinking coffee and scoffing bowls of buttered popcorn. There’s more substantial snacks of sandwiches and pastas and being Bondi, a range of healthy salads, like brown rice and chick pea, falafel or tuna nicoise, along with thirst-quenching berry or mango smoothies served in old-school silver milkshake containers. It’s licensed to sell booze, too, with Pimms jugs and sangria the winners in summer, while in winter you can warm up with mulled wine. Try to get there during happy hour, between 5pm to 7pm during weekdays.
