It’s one of the best clubs in Sydney to see live music and the space is well suited to most styles, from the acoustic strumming of Jack Johnson, rapping and on-stage antics of Mos Def, to the hip-shaking1960s funk and soul of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. The sprawling interior has a great layout for watching live music – the creaky, carpeted floor on the lower level features removable seats for concerts, and it slopes back so you can always see the stage. Upstairs has fixed, theatre-style seating. There’s plenty of room even when an event is a sell-out, but best load up on drinks at the bar because queues can be maddening. The bars are always packed, though it’s a canned beer, sprits-in-plastic-cups or pre-mixed ready-to-drink cans situation, to keep us all safe and sound. If you’re early and need a feed, there are plenty of cheapie Turkish and Greek restaurants along Enmore Road.
