Kirketon
The Kirketon is undoubtedly one of the best party hotels in Sydney. Edge Design’s Connie Alessi chose moody boudoir chic for the hardwood hallways, which are painted a dramatic scarlet colour, while guest rooms are furnished simply with leather lounges, recurring tones of gunmetal grey, and black and silver gilded mirrors. Located a hop, skip and a stumble from the naughty red light playground of Sydney’s King’s Cross, this hotel will appeal to the night owls more than the throw-open-the-curtains-at-6am guest, and it’s all too tempting to indulge in the area’s chic restaurants, plentiful bars and nightclubs and need not fear dazzling sunlight and noise as all rooms have heavy drapes and double-glazed glass. If you’re spending a night in, service is discreet, effortless and professional, with familial touches like DVDs to watch on LCD televisions and in-room dining available courtesy of the area’s many restaurants. Passes to the Fitness First gymnasium down the road come with the room – you might need them after a night guzzling cocktails at Eau de Vie, one of Sydney’s hippest cocktail bars, located conveniently (or dangerously) just downstairs.
