A Tavola

The massive marble communal table crowning the room, mirrors and the blackboard of the daily menu chalked up on the wall give A Tavola a buzzy, warm, elbow-to-elbow atmosphere and make eating in Sydney fantastico. After snacking on the baked olives – letting the warm oil drizzle over chunks of bread – and selecting some salads, like the Buffalo mozzarella, with rocket, vine-ripened tomatoes and prosciutto, pasta is on the agenda. A Tavola makes simple, homestyle Italian dishes – usually only three to choose from, like a twisted mess of spaghetti alle vongole, or sigarette with rabbit ragu. For desserts, there are classic dolce dishes of tiramisu and affogato to top it off.
