Hg2 : The Hedonist

Bathers’ Pavilion

Of all the restaurants in Sydney, The Bathers’ Pavillion has one of the best locations. Sitting on the beautiful Balmoral Beach promenade, one half of the iconic pavilion serves as a casual eatery, hugely popular for eggs benedict breakfasts and leisurely lunches, while the dining room on the other side is a smartly-dressed, white-clothed affair, setting the scene for Serge Dansereau’s fresh, locally-sourced menu. From finely-sliced kingfish and pan-seared scallops with boudin noir sprout pureé and walnut vinaigrette, to seared swordfish with South Australian calamari, the menu features a fabulous array of seafood, with meat dishes like roast guinea fowl and Roast Gippsland lamb sating the carnivores. Fellow diners may not be the most vibrant (read: youthful) in town but it’s a beautiful spot – and strolling along stunning Balmoral Beach to work off the white chocolate and pistachio chantilly feuilletine crunch, smothered with a dollop of bavarois crème and fresh raspberries, is an unbeatable way to top off an already fine meal.
