Hg2 : The Hedonist

Bootleg

With black-and-white photographs of New York, rockers and celebrities like Debbie Harry adorning the walls, captured by NY-based photographer Janette Beckman, the Sydney Italian restaurant, Bootleg, has a touch of Manhattan cool about it. There’s barely any elbow room in the narrow street-level bar and Italian eatery, but it’s become quite the trendy neighbourhood hang-out for Potts Point locals on their way home from work and in the mood for a casual bite, a vino and a catch up with friends. It’s far enough from the seedier side of Kings Cross to be able to sit unharrassed on the tables and chairs assembled on the leafy footpath, while indoors there are bar stools and a limited number of leather booths facing the bar. Squeeze into one and order from the tapas-style menu, which serves up everything from cheeses, cured meats and crostini to more substantial dishes like lasagna.
