Hg2 : The Hedonist

Australian Centre for Photography

Originally established in 1973 as a meeting place where photographers could exhibit their work, learn the latest tricks of the trade, discuss equipment and network, the ACP has four of the best galleries in Sydney sandwiched among the boutiques of Paddington. It is now widely renowned as the country’s longest-running contemporary gallery. Exhibits regularly feature world-class photographers such as Australia’s Max Dupain, Bernd and Hilla Becher and Man Ray. Aspiring photographers and admirers should drop in to check out the centre’s rotating collection of intriguing exhibits, innovative video workshops and seminars. Admission is free, but many of the seminars and workshops cost money and tickets are only available at the door.
