Hg2 : The Hedonist

Oxford Art Factory

The two-levelled interior features stripped-back Warholian-style murals by local street artists like Beast Man and Numskull and plenty of performance space, it’s definitely one of the more edgy galleries in Sydney. Keep an eye on the website for details of the OAF’s rotating agenda of edgy installations, exhibitions featuring emerging street scrawlers and established artists and even talks from hip authors like Bret Easton Ellis. Depending on how long you can put up with the bored, dishevelled-haired, too-cool-for-school crowd, it’s also an excellent spot to sink a long-neck beer or cheap cocktail in the Art after Dark Bar, and a particularly good spot to see live music – past music gigs have included Blackalicious and Eliza Doolittle. The OAF also runs a market held on the first Saturday of every month, providing a platform for Sydney’s established and emerging artists.
