Middle-aged Finns and their mothers watching go-go dancers and young Estonian secretaries getting down to 1990s pop hits: that’s ‘Playboy’ night, anyway, one of Panoraam’s regular Thursday-night parties, which gets hot after midnight when the live shows start.
rnThe nightclub is frequented by guests from the Metropol hotel underneath, giving it a particular character that is reminiscent of other hotel clubs. Not a bad place to come hunting if you are single – although be aware that almost everyone will arrive in packs, then sit around in immovable groups.
rnBut there is one extraordinary feature of Panoraam that makes everything worthwhile: the fantastic, nearly 360° degree view of the Old Town and the harbour that you get from the eighth floor of this port-side hotel. Walk along the mezzanine window at dusk for a truly beautiful sunset, or come for live gigs by some of the best bands in Estonia.
