Valge Villa (‘The White Villa’) is a large family house converted into a hotel 10 years ago by an enterprising couple in the Kristiine suburb, 3km from central Tallinn. Despite the distance, guests continue to be attracted by Valge Villa’s homely atmosphere, cheap prices and friendly service. Tobacco and alcohol free, it offers a restful place to stay outside the centre of the city.
Enter the guesthouse through a large living/dining room next to the kitchen and you feel as if you are visiting old family friends – although the neon strip lighting in the dining room is reminiscent of a youth hostel. Ten double rooms (including four suites) are decorated in rural style, complete with sofa and desk in each to add to the home-stay feel.
Room price includes fast internet access as well as breakfast, while the nicest suites look like luxury, ski-lodge apartments. The hotel’s finest feature is a set of beautiful ceramic fireplaces hand-made in Pärnu. Ask for the room with the view of the Old Town.
