Hg2 : The Hedonist

Elevant

A cosy, luxurious, international restaurant with a vaguely Indian theme, Elevant targets the Estonian lounge/club scene. High-earning locals who shun the tourist traps of the city centre come to chill or entertain in sofas and comfy wicker chairs dotted around this old merchant’s house, situated on the first floor above one of the central old town streets.

A lovely ceramic fireplace in the corner, bare wooden floors and laid-back bosanova music make dining at this medium-sized, two-roomed restaurant a unique experience – although with its giant chairs and large square tables it is not ideal for groups.

Brace yourself for world-food blurb set out in an artistic menu, but enjoy the imaginative approach to Indian, ‘ayurvedic’ and international cuisine – although the food may disappoint if you are looking for a good, old-fashioned curry. Instead go for the ‘wild boar korma’ or ‘moose curry’. If you don’t eat meat, don’t worry – there is a good selection of vegetarian foods, and the ‘ecologically clean’ interior, decorated with ‘eggs, cottage cheese and natural pigments’ will please many a modern Londoner.
