Opened in 2002, the still-sparkling Tervis spa in Viimsi is a 20-minute drive out of the city, past some of Tallinn’s most interesting coastline, flanked to the south by forest and the houses of the super-rich. The Tervis has fewer residential rooms than the equally mega-sized TOP Spa in Pirita but has more health and beauty facilities – attracting visitors from across the Baltic for excellently priced therapies, massage and even plastic surgery.
Guests usually book into the spa for week or half-week treatment holidays – but it is equally open to day visitors not wanting accommodation. Tervis boasts a 25-metre swimming pool and gym, as well as sauna and steam rooms. Day packages start from as little as 480kr, and can include consultations with a doctor. The spa is busiest during the bleak spring and autumn months.
