Traditionally, snack foods in Tel Aviv bore the immediate connotation of fried falafel, skewered meats, and oily pizzas with cafe menus as the sole alternative. Yet as the culinary standards of restaurant fare soared, so have their fast-food adjuncts. Owner of Pronto, Raphi Adar, had long imagined launching an authentic Italian delicatessen to complement his restaurant. Moving to a new property on Herzl Street, Adar manifested his dreams to reality, launching Pronto Strada besides its older, more traditional sister.
Specializing in everything Green, Red and White, Pronto Strada features a wide selection of cheeses, cold cuts, wines, and even a diverse array of baked goods created from scratch on the spot. A fantastic highlight of the endeavor is the ability to order custom-made sandwiches, to be enjoyed at the venue or to be taken away, preferably to near-by Rothschild Boulevard for a feast of eyes as well as palette. While Pronto Strada operates in fairly limited hours, Owner Raphi Adar intends on making the delicatessen a veritable late-night snacking option.
