Hg2 : The Hedonist

Cinema Hotel

As its name would suggest, Cinema Hotel, with its home at the site of former, legendary, Cinema Esther, holds its own as a tribute to the collective memory of the city. Classic black & white films screened continuously in the lobby, as well as the popcorn served at reception, are introductory notes meant to draw guests away from the generic conception of a hotel. Antique reels, projectors and promotional materials found throughout the property are all relics of a past life, saved by the former proprietor’s children, who happen to be the current owners of the building. The true highlight is the grand marble stairway, dulled and made smooth by generations of Tel Avivian families who climbed its steps on their way to the theatre rooms. Beyond the novel aesthetic touches, Cinema Hotel is a true boutique property, excelling in the amenities offered without overstepping its stated bounds. The Bauhaus structure overlooks Dizengof Square – a lively locale that is walking distance from the beachfront, Rothschild Boulevard, and many other points of interest. A knowledgeable reception team is able to offer all concierge services needed, and always with a smile. The rooms are not spectacular in size, but are pleasingly comfortable, while the outdoor deck and lounge area, complete with Jacuzzi, is the perfect venue to meet new friends during the hotel’s complimentary happy hour.
