Though lacking the thematic complexity of its Atlas chain sisters, Tal Hotel makes up for it with an excellent location a minute’s walk from the beach and the ever-popular port area (a former backwater that has emerged as a major leisure centre). The lobby area may seem a bit outdated but the 120 rooms have all been renovated, offering charming, simple modern furnishing and a bright arrangement of colours. Unfortunately, the windows aren’t always sufficiently soundproofed, and outside street noises may seep in at times. There is free WiFi though and several available computers. Not to mention those city cruiser bikes – perfect for a sunset ride down the boardwalk.
