Sushido

Sushi is not a typical of Middle-Eastern cuisine. Those partaking in the Japanese delicacy are not seeking to taste of any local tradition. That said, culinary styles from the Far East have found an enthusiastic home in Tel Aviv, as evinced by the ubiquitous presence of Sushi bars, Asian fusion restaurants, and even those Styrofoam cups of ramen sold in every market in town.

Founded in 1998, Sushido was a prominent force in the introduction of Japanese cuisine to the Tel Aviv mainstream. Combining traditional dishes with experiments that offer a local twist to international favorites, the Rothschild boulevard establishment quickly drew excellent reviews from the local press, and has since remained high on lists of best sushi restaurants. Recently re-opened after an Eastern leaning face-lift of the décor, Sushido has once more gained the attention of both press and clientele. Menu highlights include the Bamba Maki, a roll featuring the iconic Israeli peanut butter-flavored snack. Beyond a great dining experience, the revamped restaurant offers a tranquil break for those seeking a reprieve form the nightly Rothschild Boulevard commotion.
