Ashtanga Yoga Tel Aviv
Set in an intimate studio off tree-lined Reines Street, owner and yogini, Maya Gross, offers Ashtanga Yoga classes to individuals and groups utilising the traditional Mysore manner of guiding a class.
Her knowledge was gained through years of study in India with Guru Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, as well as with American Yogi Richard Freeman.
The Mysore style of guiding focuses on providing one-on-one guidance within a group setting. The students are taught asanas of the Ashtanga movement, and perform each at their individual pace. Maya, or one of her fellow guides, help each student as they work their way through the sequence, providing advice and physical adjustments when necessary.
Classes are available two to three times a day in order to accommodate any schedule and excuse, while a small boutique on premises will outfit travellers who forgot to pack their mat. As in the tradition of the Ashtanga practice, the studio remains closed during days of the new and full moon, where extreme polarities of the moon’s energy leaves yoga practitioners accident-prone. Otherwise, enjoy either a private or group yoga session with the friendly English speaking staff at Ashtanga Yoga Tel Aviv.
