Although the food places the Panoramic as one of the best restaurants in Tignes, it pays to get it right here, otherwise you could be in for a miserable experience. This gourmet-standard, table-service restaurant – think of freshly grilled lobster and you get the idea – is next door to a scruffy looking transport café-type establishment that doesn’t make for a great first impression. But don’t let that put you off. Ring ahead and book between midday and three; if you get in early you can reserve a highly prized table near the fire, on which the lobster is grilled. It’s easy to stay a bit too long in the gloomy depths of the restaurant, especially if full up with the braised rack of lamb and tiramisu. On the plus side, over-eaters can take the train back.
