La Ferme Des 3 Capucines
You’ll realise after eating here that the French restaurants in Tignes, and elsewhere in the Alps, are pathetic imitations that pale in the shadow of a real French farmhouse, such as La Ferme Des 3 Capucines. The stables are next door to the restaurant and during lulls in conversation you can hear the animals lowing – we kid you not! The French Alps are full of mocked-up rustic restaurants, but this is the real thing; after all, you don’t see chestnut soup with farmhouse bacon on too many Alpine menus. The cheese is even made in the restaurant’s own fromagerie. Located just a few metres from the Chaudannes and Paquis chairlifts, the restaurant is perfectly located for an inpromptu lunch. But if an evening dinner is what you’re after, be sure to book a table – particularly on Tuesday or Wednesday, which is when the chalet staff have a night off.
