Adrenaline-junkies won’t be hard-pushed to find things to do in Tignes, where there are things like ice diving on offer. Keeping your head above water isn’t the point; rather, you’re supposed to duck beneath it and explore the world below. Accompanied by a professional instructor, you can dive 30cm-1.5-metres below the ice on the lake in Tignes. Water-tight dry suits, gloves and masks help keep divers warm and dry under the ice. Training for complete beginners is available, but experienced divers are also welcome. Although it’s done for fun in Tignes, the same company organises training courses for professional Arctic and Antarctic divers. Rates vary from 60-95 Euros depending on experience; night dives can be arranged, as can an underwater photograph of you during your session.
