Mado Lounge
Sushi, sumo and skyscrapers. Sipping a sunset cocktail from the cloud-brushing heights of a gleaming skyscraper as Mount Fuji hovers over the horizon should not be missed. Wedged in alongside eating industrial quantities of eating raw fish, watching the world’s biggest (at least in waist size) wrestlers, skyscraper cocktail sipping is a compulsory Tokyo experience that deserves to be ticked off the list. And there are few loftier places to do it than the Mado Lounge.
Set in the sleek glass-walled confines of the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower in the Roppongi Hills development, the venue offers the ultimate accessory with a cocktail: breathtaking vistas of the endlessly unfurling sprawl of one of the world’s most populated cities in the world. Its sleek and shimmery interior – designed by Yasumichi Morita – is perfectly in sync with the twinkling lights of the urban panorama.
A word of warning: DJ events regularly take place on the 52nd floor so those with anticipating a quiet-business-drink night as opposed to rave-til-sunrise night should check the on-line schedule.
