Ice Ouca
Pumpkin. Cherry blossoms. Red beans. Green Tea. For a modern foray into the traditional world of Japanese sweet flavours, there is one place to head: Ice Ouca. A diminutive little café with an entrance shrouded in green bamboo in Ebisu, Ice Ouca offers a taste of traditional Japanese sweets in the unlikely form of a rainbow-hued selection of ice creams.
Pick up a little pink tub of ice cream made from ‘matcha’ a bitter green powder used in tea ceremony, ‘sakura azuki’ consisting of cherry blossoms and red beans or ‘yuzu cream cheese’ based on a delicious Japanese citrus fruit. Other flavours include a vibrant orange pumpkin ice cream as well as kinako ice cream made from soy bean powder. To round off the classic-with-a-twist sweets experience, wash down with a cup of Japanese tea.
