Camp 4
One of the most recent fun-size bars to open in this area, Camp 4 is packed to the rafters with young vintage-wearing hipsters. The Ossington Strip got saturated so now it’s snaking off westwards on Dundas, giving bar-crawlers extra ground to cover. It’s named after Yosemite’s base camp, a famous rock climbers’ hangout, so the look here is low-key and in touch with nature. The bar is made of reclaimed wood from a Mennonite barn, tables are rough-hewn planks and the lighting is kept dusky.
The drinks list is as earthy and as fuss-free as the décor, with rum, tequila and whiskey-based cocktails, nothing garish or girly. Unsurprisingly, the tunes are solid indie rock. There’s no food on offer yet, so this is just a simple watering hole, but with a healthy regular turnout, cabin fever seems to be catching.
