Dolce Social Ballroom
One of the grandest spots in town, Dolce Social Ballroom oozes glitz, glamour and oodles of gold. A constellation of star-like amber lamps hang from a golden hammered ceiling, under which bejewelled 30-something ladies do their damndest to dazzle in waist-basket, thigh-skimming skirts (there’s a 25+ door policy for age and the dress code is ‘stylish’).
A Californian creative design team was let loose on the interior space, which really ups the ante on King Street West. The 2000-square-foot rooftop terrace is awash with affluence in the summer, a sleek space with black cabanas, an abundance of faux grass and artwork projected onto the walls. It heaves with muscular-armed types in polo shirts, holding drinks at 90-degrees for extra definition.
Music here is top 40, R&B and house. One of its little quirks is a set of bathroom doors that are clear when open but turn opaque when locked. A sweet spot.
