TIFF Bell Lightbox
It opened in 2010 as the new home for the Toronto International Film Festival and was designed by the architects of Gardiner Museum fame (KPMB). The five storey building takes up an entire city block, housing an entertainment complex, bar, bistro and restaurant. Five public cinema screens of superior quality are soundproofed with LA earthquake technology for a pristine viewing experience.
Showing documentaries, art house movies and national cinema as well as blockbusters, the experience is tailor-made to the movie (ie. silent films are food-free). Producer/director Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters, Chloe) donated a family-owned parking lot to TIFF for this complex, on what is now called Reitman Square.
