Vercorin
Old wooden houses and Raccards abound at Vercorin, making it home to some of the most picturesque runs in Val d’Anniviers. The runs are not as long and the skiing not as steep here as in the other villages, but in the right conditions it offers tree-skiing. Our favourite run here is undoubtedly the red from the top of the Cret du Midi via Les Tsablos; it starts off fairly easily and passes a gites at the top, but take the red track off to the left through the trees and dip off the piste where there is fresh powder to be found. It passes by a wonderful cabane for lunch and then returns in a large arc to the village of Vercorin. In the right snow conditions it is possible to take a run through the trees all the way to the alley floor and get the cable car back up from Chalais – however, we would only recommend this with a guide as it is possible to get lost.
