Vallée Perdue – The Lost Valley
Vallée Perdue – meaning ‘Lost Valley’ – is not easy to find (the clue is in the name), but it’s more than worth the effort to find some of the prettiest runs in Val d’Isere. More of a sightseeing tour at times, the route offers the chance to ski through trees – a welcome change in a domain that’s generally above the tree-line. To find the Lost Valley – which is helpfully marked on the lift map – get to the Ouillon summit, either by ski or in the cable car from La Daille.
One scenic descent is west along the Vallée route until you hit what is very obviously a mountain road (D78A). Alternatively, there are couloirs under the Plan de l’Oullaz and Plan des Chamois that are steep and challenging. In the same sector, Piste G – a shady black – runs from the piste crossroads at la Grande Verdette back down towards La Daille.
