Offshore Café
The name might lead you to think that it’s a surf shack, rather than a slope-side cafe in Switzerland. And, to be fair, the decor wouldn’t discourage that kind of thinking either, with the suspended surfboards, pink VW bug in the middle of the dining room and quasi-Californian surfer vibe. But the legendary Offshore Café is as Swiss as they come, found in the middle of Verbier and catering to the ski crowd; the only boarders here are the snow kind.
The service is always friendly, the ingredients are wonderfully fresh, and the breakfast is one of the best in town. There are pancakes with locally picked blueberries, the “Vikings Special” Eggs Benedict (made with freshly caught Norwegian salmon), and classic steak and eggs, served with hash browns; just what you need before a day on the slopes. And those are just a few highlights of the extensive morning menu.
As the day progresses, the kitchen at Offshore Café becomes all things to all visitors. At one, and the same time, a fresh juice bar, burger shack, Mexican Cocina, pancake house and cocktail bar. If you crave it, they’ll most likely have it and serve with a smile.
