Mont Gele
The runs in Verbier on Mont Gele used to open for only a few weeks each season as there was not enough snow to cover the rocks. Recently it has been open more often because of heavy snowfall, and we have been able to ski some of the finest terrain Verbier has. It is accessed by a small single cable car and queues will be large on a powder day, but once at the top everyone seems to vanish into the huge bowl at the back with numerous ways down. Some come down the front face that is seriously steep, others hike along the ridge which gives access to some pretty extreme slopes. Alternatively people drop into Les Chaux. The marked run is off the back and starts with a steep pitch before a long sweeping left traverse that takes you past Stairway to Heaven and then to Gentiane.
