Tortin/Chassoure
One of the most challenging runs in Verbier, it is called Chassoure but everyone except the locals calls it Tortin. It is one of the best-known mogul runs in The Alps and is found at the top of Lac des Vaux. It starts with a long, icy and rocky traverse, and it is often better to cut in straight away – although it looks more difficult it is not, and the snow will usually be better. The remainder of the route is a wide and long mogul field that turns legs to jelly. The bumps are not as rounded as on Mont Fort or Gentiane because more people come down this way and scrape the moguls into awkward shapes. There are various off piste routes down to Tortin, but most people simply follow the path and give their legs a rest after the rigours of the bumps, while taking in the spectacular scenery.
