Ziegel Oh Lac
Expect the unexpected at Rote Fabrik, an art
gallery-cum-theatre-cum-restaurant-cum-concert-space (see Clubs and Sights).
The collectively run Ziegel Oh Lac restaurant spills out from the red brick
factory onto long trestle tables set by the lake, just amble up, take a seat
where you find one and enjoy the atmosphere of the most interesting places to eat in Zürich.
A very local sort of place, it mixes
grunge and graffiti with a prime lake-side setting and attracts diners drawn
from every walk of life; you might end up sandwiched between a be-dreadlocked
bohemian and a be-suited banker, catch one of the Tuesday night concerts or
have your dinner interrupted by 100 people taking part in experimental theatre.
The collective behind the kitchen turn out a simple menu – salads, pasta,
grilled meats – all locally sourced, organic and responsibly produced.
