B2 Boutique Hotel + Spa Zurich
Housed in the former 1870 Hürlimann Brewery, which was once Switzerland’s largest beer producer, the B2 Boutique Hotel + Spa Zurich marries contemporary design and industrial heritage. Old brick chimneys soar over the site outside, while inside the hotel is awash with polished oak parquet flooring, chic brass lighting from Tom Dixon and pictures of the brewery back in the day.
The spacious guestrooms and suites are all about clean lines and understated elegance. For those looking for that little bit extra decadence during their stay, the Hürlimann Suite, a duplex, has its own dining area, lounge, and outdoor space. And, with glass walls separating the rainfall shower from the rest of the bedroom in standard rooms, and in the suites positioning the freestanding tub right next to the bed, it’s safe to say that the bathrooms skew towards the exhibitionist. But, while the 60 rooms here are undoubtedly chic, it’s the book-lined Wine Library that really steals the show.
Extending upwards for 36 feet (be sure to gander at the impressive beer bottle chandeliers – a nod to the hotel’s past) and home to over 33,000 books, the Wine Library is a showstopper of a public space. There’s a menu of local and international wines and beers for guests to enjoy here, as well as a good selection of tapas-style bites. But, on any given day, you’re just as likely to see guests milling around and enjoying the ambience, as settling in for breakfast or an aperitif; it’s an impressive space, as is the on-site Thermal Baths & Spa where hotel guests get a substantial discount.
