Follow in the illustrious
footsteps of princes, envoys, alchemists, artists and musicians at what is arguably the oldest hotel in Zürich; the current incarnation was built in 1938, but its predecessors have
witnessed the ebb and flow of Swiss history for 650 years. A family owned
hotel, it is also a guild house for the Schiffleuten guild of shippers and
fishermen hence a slightly nautical theme to some of the décor.
The rooms are
traditionally decorated with a predominantly blue colour-scheme, what will
excite, however, is its fantastic location on the Limmat river. Request a
riverside room for some of the best views in Zürich, framed by elegant church
towers, gaze up the river towards the lake and snow-capped Alps.
the hotel access the Altstadt’s most exclusive shopping street, from the
multi-brand, multi-site Trois Pommes to Miu Miu next door. Outside the hotel is
a riverside bar, popular with locals catching up over a glass of prosecco and a
shady café in the square, in Winter, the action moves inside to the stylish
piano bar and cosy, wood-panelled restaurant.
