Hg2 : The Hedonist

Nestled in the Altstadt, Lindenhofkeller is one of Zürich’s
most atmospheric restaurants. Traditional but not fusty, the dining room décor is
stylishly cosy with discreet wine cave
murals, cream wood panelled walls and venerable wine bottles lining the shelves,
a clue, if one is needed that wine is taken pretty seriously here.

René Hofer,
manager, sometime chef and resident oenophile since 1996, gives every table
just the right amount of solicitous attention ensuring you make the right choice
from the 600 wines on offer.

Chef Alain Woeffler is renowned for his Swiss
prime rack of veal, which comes out pinkly tender, perfectly complimented by
creamy sauces and a bowl of freshly made spätzli.
Reflecting his Alsatian roots, the menu dips into France for inspiration;
sautéed foie gras, crème brulée and tarte tatin make appearance, whilst
South East Asian influences add diversity.

Housed in building that can document
its history back to 1357, Lindenhofkeller has been attracting tout Zürich since the 1860s.
